Cairo, SANA- Issues related to the preparations\u00a0for a new round of inter-Syrian talks in Genev\u00a0were discussed by UN Special Envoy for Syria\u00a0Staffan de Mistura and Egyptian Foreign Minister\u00a0Sameh Shukri during a phone call.<\/p>\n
Spokesperson of Egyptian Foreign Ministry Ahmed\u00a0Abu Zeid said in a statement on Monday that De\u00a0Mistura expressed his keenness on briefing Egypt\u00a0on the exerted efforts in the framework of the\u00a0preparations for Geneva talks as Egypt is an\u00a0effective party of the Arab world and a current\u00a0member of the UN Security Council.<\/p>\n
The Egyptian Minister stressed Egypt’s full\u00a0commitment to supporting any effort that aims at\u00a0finding a political solution to the crisis in\u00a0Syria as Egypt is interested in making the UN\u00a0envoy’s mission a success.<\/p>\n
Shukri reiterated the necessity that participants\u00a0should be characterized with seriousness and\u00a0goodwill for reaching the required political\u00a0settlement to the crisis in Syria and stopping the\u00a0bloodshed in Syria.<\/p>\n
Earlier, De Mistura’s spokeswoman Yara Sharif said\u00a0that the intra-Syria talks in Geneva on settling\u00a0the crisis in Syria will start officially on\u00a0February 23, noting that the UN envoy started\u00a0sending official invitations to the participant\u00a0delegations.<\/p>\n
The last round of Geneva talks was halted on April\u00a027, without achieving tangible outcomes.<\/p>\n
