Moscow, SANA- Russian Foreign Ministry\u00a0Spokesperson Maria Zakharova expressed hope that\u00a0talks in Astana will give extra impetus to the Syrian settlement\u00a0process.<\/p>\n
In a news briefing on Wednesday, Zakharova said\u00a0that a second international meeting on Syria is\u00a0due in Astana, hoping that it will give extra impetus to\u00a0an inclusive intra-Syrian dialog under the UN\u00a0auspices in Geneva.<\/p>\n
Zakharova pointed out that Russian Foreign\u00a0Minister Sergey Lavrov will hold talks with UN\u00a0Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura in Moscow on February\u00a016, and that the two parties will exchange views\u00a0on the whole range of issues related to the settlement\u00a0process to the crisis in Syria, including the\u00a0Astana process initiated by Russia, adding that Russian\u00a0Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov will also
\nhold a meeting with de Mistura.<\/p>\n
During their meetings with the UN envoy, the\u00a0Russian diplomats will emphasize the need for the\u00a0Geneva talks under the United Nations auspices, due on\u00a0February 23, to be held in full accordance with\u00a0the UN Security Council Resolution 2254, she stressed.<\/p>\n
Zakharova reiterated that only in this case\u00a0progress can be made in solving the crisis in\u00a0Syria and reaching an agreement reflecting the interests of\u00a0all groups of Syrian society.<\/p>\n
De Mistura’s spokeswoman Yara Sharif said that the\u00a0intra-Syrian talks in Geneva on settling the\u00a0crisis in Syria will start officially on February 23.<\/p>\n
