Russia’s permanent mission to the UN said that\u00a0Russia will not support any western-backed draft\u00a0resolution submitted to the Security Council\u00a0against Syria .<\/p>\n
A western diplomatic source said that the UN\u00a0Security Council will vote Tuesday on the draft\u00a0resolution immediately following the conclusion of\u00a0its meeting on the assessment of the outcomes of\u00a0its work during February.<\/p>\n
Russia’s Deputy UN Ambassador, Vladimir Safronkov,\u00a0said Friday that Moscow would veto the resolution,\u00a0which he described as “one-sided,” “based on\u00a0insufficient evidence” and “a provocation.”<\/p>\n
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov\u00a0described the draft resolution as ” unacceptable”.
