Damascus, SANA- Syria’s Permanent Representative\u00a0to the UN Bashar al-Jaafari stressed that the\u00a0track of Astana 1, 2 and 3 was positive whether\u00a0the opposition attended or not because it is\u00a0specialized in monitoring the cessation of\u00a0hostilities agreement, separating ISIS and Jabhat\u00a0al-Nusra from the armed groups which signed the\u00a0agreement and uniting the efforts of the factions\u00a0which signed the agreement in the battle against\u00a0terrorism and this issue is very important, but it\u00a0has not been implemented up till now.<\/p>\n
In an interview with the Syrian TV on Sunday\u00a0evening, al-Jaafari said that the Russian side\u00a0proposed a number of the work papers that reflect\u00a0its seriousness in finding solution to the crisis\u00a0in Syria such as removing the mines planted by\u00a0the ISIS terrorist organization in Palmyra and the archaeological\u00a0sites, establishing a committee for\u00a0exchanging the kidnapped and establishing a\u00a0constitutional committee specialized in the\u00a0national reconciliations.<\/p>\n
Al-Jaafari indicated that the track of Astana\u00a0meeting complements Geneva track as positive\u00a0efforts were exerted in it by the Russian and\u00a0Iranian guarantors, in addition to the initiatives\u00a0proposed by the Russian side.<\/p>\n
“Since the establishment of Astana track, we\u00a0haven’t dealt with the Turkish guarantor, but we\u00a0deal with the Russian and the Iranian guarantors,\u00a0and we don’t have a political or ethical\u00a0confidence in the Turkish side which has always\u00a0been the reason behind the problems in the region\u00a0throughout history,” al-Jaafari said.<\/p>\n
He indicated that terrorism is the main reason\u00a0behind all the problems in Syria and that the most\u00a0important victory against terrorism today is\u00a0admitting the existence of terrorism in Syria and\u00a0Iraq by the whole world and adopting eight\u00a0resolutions by the UN Security Council on\u00a0combating terrorism.<\/p>\n
Al-Jaafari added that the key solution for\u00a0combating international terrorism starts by\u00a0controlling the borders by the Turkish side, but\u00a0the Turkish regime is not willing to do that and\u00a0it is dealing with this issue with blackmail.<\/p>\n
He affirmed that terrorism is still used as a\u00a0political arm and the latest terrorist attacks in\u00a0Damascus, Homs, Aleppo and some of the Syrian\u00a0areas are a part of the process of the political\u00a0pressure exerted on the Syrian Government before\u00a0going to Geneva, referring to the terrorist\u00a0attacks which took place before every session of\u00a0the Security Council.<\/p>\n
Al-Jaafari said that there are political forces\u00a0which support terrorism and they don’t want to\u00a0reach a political solution to the crisis in Syria\u00a0and they don’t have the political will to engage\u00a0in any credible political solution.<\/p>\n
He referred to the support provided by western\u00a0intelligence agencies to terrorism on the\u00a0international level and to giving the Oscar to the\u00a0so-called White Helmets which embrace members of\u00a0Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization.<\/p>\n
Al-Jaafari pointed out that the Israeli air force\u00a0targeted an area in Palmyra because they felt with\u00a0their backers that the battle of the Syrian Arab\u00a0army against ISIS resulted in a great victory\u00a0against terrorism in Palmyra and Aleppo, adding\u00a0that for the same reason, the US air force\u00a0interfered in al-Tharda mountain in Deir Ezzor to\u00a0help ISIS in besieging 200 thousand persons.<\/p>\n
He stressed that the Syrian military retaliation\u00a0for the Israeli attack was suitable and it changed\u00a0the rules of the game, referring to the measures\u00a0taken by the Russian Foreign Ministry and to\u00a0summoning the Israeli Ambassador and the strong\u00a0statements of Iran and the Lebanese Resistance on\u00a0the same issue.<\/p>\n
Al-Jaafari indicated that the Western countries\u00a0rejected a press statement proposed by Russia at\u00a0the Security Council to condemn the terrorist\u00a0attacks in Syria due to the absence of the\u00a0international will to find political solution to\u00a0the crisis.<\/p>\n
He added that the US representation in Astana was\u00a0very normal and its participation was not dynamic, \u00a0and that the new administration hasn’t reached a\u00a0final assessment of its policy towards the\u00a0situation in Syria yet.<\/p>\n
Al-Jaafari asserted that the delegation of the\u00a0Syrian Arab Republic is willing to go to the fifth\u00a0round of Geneva talks and to work according to the\u00a0agenda reached by the fourth round of Geneva talks\u00a0which included four baskets.<\/p>\n
He added that the delegation of Riyadh\u00a0opposition rejects the basket of combating\u00a0terrorism and at the same time it claims that it\u00a0is a national opposition, wondering how it could\u00a0be national while it rejects to fight terrorism.<\/p>\n
He clarified that the reason behind targeting\u00a0Syria is that it adheres to its national dignity\u00a0and it has foiled all the Western agendas in the\u00a0region, affirming that winning the battle of\u00a0combating terrorism imposed our voice on the
\nworld and achieving more victories on the ground\u00a0will facilitate reaching the political solution.<\/p>\n
