Damascus, SANA-Caretaker Minister of State for Environmental Affairs Nazira Sarkis said the\u00a0 engagement of the private sector in increasing green spaces emphasizes the importance of\u00a0 partnership between various sectors.<\/p>\n
Sarkis was speaking during a meeting of the directive\u00a0 committee of “Shajarati” (My Tree) project,\u00a0 which is carried out in cooperation with the Korean Business Center.<\/p>\n
The project aims to increase green spaces\u00a0 and trees, and provides new job opportunities.<\/p>\n
Director of the Korean Business Center Zaher Zanbarakji said that the project is aimed to achieve\u00a0 environmental balance and increase available resources. Its revenues go to the Environment\u00a0 Protection Fund, charities, humanitarian organizations and needy families in Syria.<\/p>\n
“Shajarati” project is aimed to increase the green spaces and help reduce pollution, as well as\u00a0 supporting tree-planting campaigns and encouraging volunteerism and social environmental\u00a0 awareness-raising campaigns.<\/p>\n
