Damascus, SANA – The 29th Fine Art Exhibition, titled \u201cSalute to October\u201d kicked off on Thursday evening at Al-Shaab Gallery for Fine Arts.<\/p>\n
The exhibition is organized by the Political Administration in cooperation with the Plastic Artists Union under the patronage of Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Armed Forces, Defense Minister Gen. Fahd Jassem al-Freij.

\n60 artists are participating in the ten-day exhibition depicting in their works the emotional state of the heroics of the ancestors and sons and the value and sublime meanings of sacrifice in defense of the homeland, marking the 44th anniversary of the 1973 October Liberation War against the Israeli enemy.<\/p>\n
Speaking to the journalists at the exhibition’s opening, Deputy Defense Minister Maj. Gen. Mahmoud Shawa said that the meanings embodied in October Liberation War and the victories currently achieved by the Syrian army currently are “grand”.<\/p>\n
“There was the October Liberation War and our enemy, the Israeli occupation entity- was the main target, who continues to be the real compass in the fight against terrorism,” said Maj. Gen. Shawa, adding that “terrorism has been renewed and the victories of our army continue successively from one October to another.”<\/p>\n

The participating artists showcased various pieces of fine art paintings, engravings, sculptures and Arabic calligraphy of various artistic schools and different age groups.<\/p>\n
The exhibition included 14 sculptures made of wood, polyester, stone, basalt and metal materials.<\/p>\n
The opening ceremony was attended by a number officers in the army and armed forces, figures from the Plastic Artists Union and interested audience.<\/p>\n
