Geneva, SANA- China’s Special Envoy for Syria Xie Xiaoyan expressed his country\u2019s firm support to the UN role in the Syrian\u00a0talks in Geneva with the aim of finding a solution to the crisis in Syria.<\/p>\n
Chinese Xinhua News Agency quoted Xie as saying, following his meeting with the UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura\u00a0in Geneva that \u201cChina is open to any other efforts and initiatives that would help settling the problems, and it will be\u00a0ready to cooperate closely with the relevant parties which have a big influence on the peace process in Syria.\u201d<\/p>\n
Xie added that \u201cthe ground situation in Syria has significantly improved and the terrorist groups have been largely cracked\u00a0down,\u201d noting that \u201cGeneva talks are facing favorable factors, and China hopes that the Syrian sides will further demonstrate\u00a0flexibility and promote progress in the political process through the talks in Geneva.\u201d<\/p>\n
For his part, De Mistura appreciated the support provided by China, saying that \u201cthe objective stance of China has played a\u00a0constructive role in promoting the political solution to the crisis in Syria,\u201d expressing readiness to continue to maintain\u00a0close communication and coordination with China.<\/p>\n
