{"id":129556,"date":"2018-03-06T18:06:09","date_gmt":"2018-03-06T16:06:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sana.sy\/en\/?p=129556"},"modified":"2018-03-06T18:06:09","modified_gmt":"2018-03-06T16:06:09","slug":"peoples-assembly-discusses-performance-of-higher-education-ministry-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/en\/?p=129556","title":{"rendered":"People\u2019s Assembly discusses performance of Higher Education Ministry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Damascus, SANA \u2013 The People\u2019s Assembly discussed during a session on Tuesday chaired by Speaker Hammoudeh Sabbagh the performance and plan of the Higher Education Ministry and issues related to its work.<\/p>\n<p>Assembly members called for supervising the curricula of private universities, simplifying procedures for registering in open education, giving more attention to university hospitals, and explaining the rumors about the drop in the international ranking of Syrian universities.<\/p>\n<p>They also called for giving more attention to student campuses and establishing new non-traditional scientific departments.<\/p>\n<p>Higher Education Minister Atef Naddaf said that the development of the basis of university admission<a href=\"https:\/\/sana.sy\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/People-Assembly-1-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-129558 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/sana.sy\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/People-Assembly-1-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/People-Assembly-1-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/People-Assembly-1-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/People-Assembly-1-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a> and applying the preparatory year principle to as many colleges as possible are at the forefront of the Ministry\u2019s plan and strategic vision.<\/p>\n<p>Naddaf asserted that work is underway to connect scientific research plans to development and society\u2019s needs, noting that the Ministry is working to establishing a central knowledge database.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the ranking of Syrian universities, the Minister pointed out that there are no official rankings for universities by the UN or the UNESCO; rankings are currently done via websites such as the Webometrics website which ranks the 22,000 most important universities in the world, adding that there was an improvement in Damascus University\u2019s ranking in 2018; as it was ranked 5,398th in 2017 and now it\u2019s ranked 5,070th.<\/p>\n<p>Sawsan \/ Hazem Sabbagh<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Damascus, SANA \u2013 The People\u2019s Assembly discussed during a session on Tuesday chaired by Speaker Hammoudeh Sabbagh the performance and plan of the Higher Education Ministry and issues related to its work.
