New York, SANA- The United Nations confirmed that Raqqa city is living in tragic conditions, noting that 70 to 80 % of its buildings were devastated.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe UN assessment mission visited Raqqa city on April 1 to assess the humanitarian situation there clarified that there are large quantities of unexploded ordnance and mines ,\u201d Tass news agency quoted UN Assistant Secretary General Ersola Muller as saying in a report submitted to UN Security Council session Wednesday.<\/p>\n
\u201c Remarkable damage was caused to infrastructure in the city, which suffers the lack of basic public services.\u201d Muller said.<\/p>\n
She added:\u201c An estimated 70-80 percent of all buildings inside Raqqa city are destroyed or damaged,” pointing out that every week, there have been \u00a0scores casualties reported due to the explosion of mines and shells.<\/p>\n
Hundreds of victims and tens of thousands of displaced civilians are the result of the systematic destruction of Raqqa city by the so-called US-led international coalition allegedly formed to fight Daesh terrorist organization in Syria in general and in Raqqa in particular.<\/p>\n
During a UN Security Council session held a week ago for discussing humanitarian situation in Raqqa, Syria\u2019s Permanent Representative at the UN Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari stressed that the US-led \u201cinternational coalition\u201d had completely destroyed Raqqa city under the pretext of fighting Daesh terrorists.<\/p>\n
He said that true \u201cachievements\u201d of the so-called international coalition were killing thousands of innocent civilians using the dirtiest kinds of weapons and destroying the Syrian infrastructure, including dams, bridges, hospitals, schools, and developmental facilities and economic resources.<\/p>\n
