Damascus, SANA \u2013 The excessive rainfall and hail, which were accompanied by winds, have extensively damaged crops, mainly vegetables, fruits and tobacco in many areas across the country.<\/p>\n

During a session chaired by Prime Minister Imad Khamis on Sunday, the Cabinet approved forming specialized committees to evaluate the scale of damage sustained by the cultivated crops.<\/p>\n

The committees aim at making reports to assess crop damage due to the current bad weather in order to lay a compensation mechanism, especially that the farmers whose livelihood relies on the prosperous harvest of the crop was badly affected and they cannot bear the loss.<\/p>\n

In a relevant context, the cabinet urged the Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Ministry to intensity its efforts to develop the Syrian Trading to be a positive economic intervention force in the process of marketing the crops as well as meeting the needs of citizens.<\/p>\n
