Damascus, SANA- Meeting of Muslim and Christian Scholars with Chairman of Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations (DECR) Bishop Hilarion and religious delegation accompanying him at the Mariamite Church in Damascus honestly expresses the reality of Syria which has been able to defeat terrorism through its people\u2019s unity and the support provided by the Russian friends, \u00a0Minister of Islamic Endowments (Awqaf) Mohammad Abdul-Sattar al-Sayyed\u00a0 said .<\/p>\n
During the meeting, which was held on occasion of the month in which Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) was born, Minister al-Sayyed said that the Syrian people will not be defeated and neither the US nor the Israeli occupation entity and those who support them will be able to undermine the will of life and peace in the heart of the Syrian people who will remain steadfast till achieving full victory and eradicating terrorism from every inch of the Syrian territories.<\/p>\n
For his part, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East John X Yazigi said that the meeting today at the Mariamite Church which is, like all the mosques and churches in Syria, a cradle for all the Syrian people, adding that this meeting came to convey a message about Damascus, Syria and the unity of the Syrians who have been able to defeat terrorism.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe in Syria have always been a united family who spread a message of amity, life, happiness and peace to all the world,\u201d Yazigi\u00a0 added.<\/p>\n
Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, Supreme head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church Aphrem II stressed that the meeting embodies Syria\u2019s unity, and it affirms that the will and resilience of the Syrian people can\u2019t be undermined and sedition can\u2019t be spread among the Syrian people.<\/p>\n
Patriarch Aphrem II said that this unity and coexistence have protected Syria and allowed it to eliminate terrorism in cooperation with the Russian friends.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Bishop Hilarion affirmed that what took place in Syria came as a part of the schemes hatched by foreign powers which seek to undermine the will of the Syrian people and they are the same ones who sew conflict in Iraq and Libya.<\/p>\n
Hilarion added that these powers have failed to achieve their plots thanks to the will of the Syrian people and the heroism of their leadership, wishing that terrorism will be eradicated from every inch of the Syrian territories.<\/p>\n
Sheikh Aql (leader) of the Muslim Muwahhideen community in Syria Youssef Jarbou\u2019a expressed Syria\u2019s appreciation for the role played by the Russian leadership, government and people to support Syria in its war against terrorism.<\/p>\n
