{"id":159471,"date":"2019-02-24T09:14:02","date_gmt":"2019-02-24T07:14:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sana.sy\/en\/?p=159471"},"modified":"2019-02-24T09:14:56","modified_gmt":"2019-02-24T07:14:56","slug":"al-noufara-fountain-in-damascus-old-cityan-archeological-landmark-dating-back-to-1000-years-ago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/en\/?p=159471","title":{"rendered":"Al-Noufara Fountain\u2026An archeological landmark dating back to 1000 years ago"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Damascus, SANA-Nearby the famed archeological caf\u00e9 of al-Noufara which was built behind the eastern gate of the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus Old City, one can see a marvelous ancient fountain dating back to more than 1000 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>The fountain was first established in 1019 AD to add more beauty to the entrance of the mosque at the middle of vestibule linked to Bab Jeron or &#8220;Jeron Gate&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Yet the well over which the fountain was erected seems to be of little abundance and that is why water was conveyed to it from \u00a0al-Qanawat River in vicinity of al-Hajjaj Palace as water reached the fountain in 1026 AD.<\/p>\n<p>Al-Hajjaj Palace is an ancient archeological monument near Bab al-Jabyia or &#8220;al-Jabyia Gate&#8221; in Damascus Old City.<\/p>\n<p>One can reach the fountain \u00a0from Bab Jeron \u00a0after getting off many stairs.
