New York, Tehran, SANA- Syria\u2019s permanent representative to the UN, Bashar al-Jaafari, said that the US fighter jets\u2019 interception of an Iranian civil plane is considered as a double crime, stressing that the Americans have not only violated the Syrian sovereignty, but they also violated Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is not the first time they threaten Iranian passenger planes\u2026 they have dropped an Iranian plane over the Gulf waters on July 3rd,1988 that led to the martyrdom of 290 passengers,\u201d al-Jaafari told IRNA in a statement.<\/p>\n
He added that the US military presence in Syria is totally illegal and Washington\u2019s violation of the international conventions became confirmed.<\/p>\n
For his part, Syria\u2019s Ambassador in Tehran, Adnan Mahmoud, affirmed that intercepting the Iranian plane by two American fighter jets is a tangible embodiment of the US terrorist method that targets the lives of civilians, including children and women, in a flagrant violation of international conventions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe hostile act can\u2019t be separated from the US practices in supporting terrorism and looting the Syrian people resources, Adnan said in a statement, stressing the importance of the US occupation withdrawal from the Syrian lands.<\/p>\n
