{"id":20282,"date":"2014-12-02T15:17:30","date_gmt":"2014-12-02T13:17:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sana.sy\/en\/?p=20282"},"modified":"2014-12-02T15:17:30","modified_gmt":"2014-12-02T13:17:30","slug":"marble-was-used-in-ancient-syrian-pottery-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/en\/?p=20282","title":{"rendered":"Marble was used in ancient Syrian pottery industry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Damascus, SANA &#8211; Several of archeological and historical findings unearthed\u00a0 in Syria bear witness to the old Syrian experience in marble-made pottery\u00a0 industry.<\/p>\n<p>Historian Mahmoud al-Sayyed of the General Directorate of Archeology and\u00a0 Museums stressed that marble was used in pottery and utensils industry in\u00a0 Syria in ancient times.<\/p>\n<p>He cited in a statement to SANA two pots made of white marble as example of\u00a0 the deep-rooted skillfulness of the Syrian craftsmen.<\/p>\n<p>The two pots, he noted, date back to the pre-pottery Neolithic age, specifically in the period between 6400-5900 BC, and were found in the\u00a0 ruins of the 12th burned house in the archeological site of Tal Buqrus on\u00a0 the right bank of the Euphrates River<\/p>\n<p>One of the pots was shaped like a rabbit, while the other had the shape of\u00a0 a hedgehog.<\/p>\n<p>B.
