New York, SANA The United Nations reiterated\u00a0calls on Israel to comply with the UN relevant\u00a0resolutions on the occupied Syrian Golan,\u00a0particularly, UN Security Council Resolution No.\u00a0497 for 1981 which considers Israel’s decision to\u00a0impose its laws, administration and custody on the\u00a0occupied Syrian Golan as “null and void.”<\/p>\n
The UN General Assembly on Friday adopted a\u00a0resolution entitled “The Occupied Syrian Golan” by\u00a0an overwhelming majority, as 162 countries voted
\nin favor of the resolution while Israel was the\u00a0only country which voted against it.<\/p>\n
The UN resolution demanded Israel to immediately\u00a0cancel its decision on annexing the Golan,\u00a0asserting that all legislative and administrative
\nmeasures and procedures which Israel has taken or\u00a0will take for changing the Syrian Golan’s\u00a0demography and geography as “null and void and a\u00a0flagrant violation of the international law and\u00a0Geneva Convention on Protection of Civilian\u00a0Persons in Time of War”.<\/p>\n
It also called on Israel to stop imposing the\u00a0Israeli nationality and identity cards on the\u00a0Syrians in Golan and halt the repressive measures\u00a0against them .<\/p>\n
The resolution condemned the Israeli violations of\u00a0the Geneva Convention, calling on the UN member\u00a0states to reject the Israeli measures taken in\u00a0Golan which contradict international laws.<\/p>\n
