{"id":213372,"date":"2020-12-11T15:27:02","date_gmt":"2020-12-11T13:27:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/107.6.182.27\/en\/?p=213372"},"modified":"2020-12-11T17:46:56","modified_gmt":"2020-12-11T15:46:56","slug":"new-archaeological-discoveries-at-the-zeus-temple-in-qanawat-sweida","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/en\/?p=213372","title":{"rendered":"New archaeological discoveries at the Zeus temple in Qanawat, Sweida"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sweida, SANA_ The national archaeological mission of\u00a0 Sweida Antiquities Department has completed the archaeological excavations for the current season in the eastern part of the Temple of Zeus \u201cMajestuous\u201d in Qanawat village.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a statement to SANA reporter Head of\u00a0 Sweida Antiquities Department Nashat Kiwan, stated that, throughexcavations, architectural spaces \u00a0that form small rooms were uncovered.<a href=\"http:\/\/107.6.182.27\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/22-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-213373 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/107.6.182.27\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/22-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"244\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The rubble was removed to show architectural types such as small doors leading to these rooms, Kiwan mentioned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Also, part of the temple lower base and the water channel that passed through those rooms and fed parts of the temple and leads to a water tank in front of the temple were discovered.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kiwan stated that the mission consisted of cadres of Sweida Antiquities Department, \u00a0specialists in archeology, architecture and restoration with the participation of graduates and students of the Archeology Department at the Second College of Arts in Sweida .<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to Kiwan this participation has\u00a0<em>yielded<\/em>\u00a0good results at the archaeological and professional levels.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Temple of Zeus &#8220;Majestus&#8221; is one of the important archaeological landmarks in Qanawat in the countryside of Sweida\u00a0 which date back to the 1<sup>st<\/sup> \u00a0century BC.
