Moscow, SANA-Accusations that Moscow is jeopardizing the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) contradict the facts and allow Kiev to undermine the International Atomic Energy Agency\u2019s efforts to inspect the facility, Russia\u2019s Foreign Ministry said on Monday.<\/p>\n
RT said that Russia\u2019s response comes after the EU released a statement on Sunday condemning the\u00a0\u201cunprovoked invasion of Ukraine\u201d\u00a0and accusing the Russian military of attacking the ZNPP and preventing nuclear and radiation safety from being maintained at the facility.<\/p>\n
\u201cWestern countries are once again descending to outright lies, arguing that the threats to the ZNPP are created by Russia,\u201d\u00a0said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova in a statement published on the ministry\u2019s website.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously, this contradicts the facts that we have repeatedly cited, including within the walls of the Security Council. It is undeniable that the attacks on the station and Energodar are carried out by Ukrainian armed groups acting on orders from Kiev.\u201d<\/p>\n
Zakharova went on to suggest that the EU\u2019s statement was marked by\u00a0\u201cbiased informational stuffing\u201d\u00a0and full of\u00a0\u201cblatant Russophobia and distorted facts.\u201d\u00a0She noted that the authors of the text were obsessed with the so-called\u00a0\u201cRussian threat\u201d\u00a0and were using it to cover up their own foreign policy failures by putting\u00a0\u201cRussophobic foreign policy views above objectivity and the tasks of nonproliferation and nuclear security.\u201d<\/p>\n
The spokeswoman also pointed out that such statements were being used by EU politicians to score\u00a0\u201cimaginary political points\u201d\u00a0while giving Kiev the go-ahead to create obstacles for an IAEA inspection of the plant.<\/p>\n
