Tartous, SANA-Works of the joint Syrian-Italian archaeological mission started for the first season at Amrit site in Tartous governorate, which included documenting a temple unique in the world in terms of its architectural chart and the decorative elements that adorned it.<\/p>\n

Director of excavation and archaeological studies, Hammam Saad, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the work of the first season includes cleaning of the collapsed stones inside the temple, and there will be three-dimensional documentation for each stone in the next stage, and then conducting the necessary studies for the next stage to start restoration work inside the temple.<\/p>\n

He stressed the importance of the mission\u2019s work in terms of understanding the temple\u2019s chart and the way in which customs were carried out inside it in the Phoenician era, indicating that the studies include charts and photographs to understand what was done inside the site.<\/p>\n

Saad pointed to the importance of the return of archaeological work to sites in Syria, in addition to the key role of the local community in preserving and protecting these sites.<\/p>\n
