Damascus, SANA- The Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums (DGAM), unveiled Wednesday that an unmatched stunning mosaic, dating back to the Roman era, has been unearthed in al-Rastan city, Homs province SANA reporter said.<\/p>\n

\u00a0The discovered painting consists of three frames and a circle in the middle, in which there are drawings of Achilles, and around the frame there are drawings of Greece kings, a reference to a legendary story known in the texts of archaeological epic of the “The Iliad”, which tells of the war between Troy and the Greeks.<\/p>\n

Director of excavations and archaeological studies , Hammam Saad, said that this painting is a very important discovery not only at the regional level, but at the global level.<\/p>\n

He added that al-Rastan city was an important kingdom in the Roman era, and before that it was mentioned in ancient texts in the fourth century AD.<\/p>\n
