Damascus, SANA- President Bashar al-Assad on Monday awarded Mrs. Najah al-Attar, the Vice-President, the Umayyad National Order, in the presence of cultural, intellectual and literary figures in Syria.<\/p>\n

President al-Assad said during the event, while awarding Dr. al-Attar the order \u201cThe importance of the order comes from the significance of the figure who holds it first then from their noble message second\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cOffering an Order or medal to a patriotic figure is a national occasion, not a personal one\u2026 patriotism as a feeling, belonging and a thought is based on feelings, principles and concepts of society that is formed from its personalities as individuals,\u201d President al-Assad added.<\/p>\n

The Syrian Presidency noted that Dr. al-Attar held the homeland in her heart and soul and struggled for it in both word and deed; thus this Order derived from her value and prestige, adding \u201cSyria has always been proud to honor its great figures who gave their homeland a lot of their works and principles over decades and generations, for this, the honor became a national event par excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n
