Washington, SANA- The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, called for an end to the massacre committed by the fascist Israeli occupation against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n
\nMore than 700,000 displaced people live in about 150 UNRWA buildings throughout the Gaza Strip, Washington Post quoted Lazzarini as saying.<\/p>\n
\nLazzarini noted that about 50 of the agency\u2019s buildings, including schools, were damaged by shelling and 99 of the agency\u2019s employees were killed.<\/p>\n
\nLazzarini pointed out that \u201cthe mass displacement brings Palestinians back to the year 1948, also known as the Nakba, where they read a leaked document of the Israeli government proposing their expulsion to Sinai Peninsula.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nLazzarini stressed that their fears are exacerbated when they hear Israeli politicians and others referring to the people in Gaza as \u201chuman animals\u201d and \u201cterrorists\u201d or calling for \u201cthe eradication of Gaza and its people,\u201d which is dehumanizing language that I did not think I would hear in the 21st century.<\/p>\n
\nThe current path chosen by the Israeli occupation will not achieve peace and stability, but rather will create a new generation of oppressed Palestinians who are likely to continue resistance, Lazzarini affirmed.<\/p>\n
