Damascus, SANA – Health Minister Nizar Yazigi said the pharmaceutical sector has stood its ground firmly despite the systematic targeting of the entire health sector under the four-year-long terrorism crisis.<\/p>\n
The grave impacts of the terrorist organizations’ attacks against the health, medical and pharmaceutical facilities have been compounded by the unfair economic blockade imposed on the country, which has taken a grim toll not just on health but on all other sectors causing severe equipment shortages.<\/p>\n
Talking during the 33rd annual general conference of the Syrian Pharmacists Syndicate in Damascus on Thursday, the Minister stressed that the pharmaceutical sector has achieved a 80-80 % coverage rate of the locally made medicines.<\/p>\n
He noted that about 600 shipments of medicines and medical supplies and equipment have been delivered to all Syrian provinces, including areas difficult to reach due to the security situation.<\/p>\n
On the sidelines of the conference, a medical exhibition was held with the participation of many pharmaceutical and medical companies. The exhibition aimed at strengthening the links between medical and pharmaceutical professionals and medicine manufacturers and importers.<\/p>\n
