Damascus, SANA-Legal Committee for Drafting the Constitutional Declaration said that in light of the legal vacuum resulting from the cancellation of the 2012 constitution drafted by Bashar al-Assad regime, it has become necessary to draft a constitutional declaration that regulates the transitional period and directs the state\u2019s path towards stability and reconstruction, and is not considered as an alternative to the permanent constitution.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe constitutional declaration stems its legitimacy from the National Dialogue Conference and the Victory Conference, as various spectrum of the Syrian people agreed the necessity of having a legal framework that regulates the transitional period, defines the foundations of the rule, and guarantees rights and freedoms,\u201d the committee added in a statement to SANA.<\/p>\n
It went on to say that the constitutional declaration is a legal document that aims to manage the transitional phase in Syria, as it defines the powers of the three authorities (legislative, executive and judicial).<\/p>\n
The committee stressed that it is responsible for writing the draft of the constitutional declaration after studying the most important principles and articles that it must include, in a way that achieves the country’s interest and keeps pace with the requirements of the transitional period.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter completing the drafting task, we will submit the proposal to Presidency of the republic in a step aimed at establishing a new phase based on law and institutions, ensuring the transition towards a more stable and just Syria,\u201d the Committee concluded.<\/p>\n
