Damascus, SANA-With high-level official attendance and broad participation from economic figures, investors, and traders, trading resumed on Syria\u2019s Damascus Securities Exchange after six month hiatus.<\/p>\n

Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohammad Yusr Barniyeh , emphasized that reopening the exchange is a sign that Syria\u2019s economy is beginning to recover and move forward,He noted, \u201c<\/em>The Damascus Securities Exchange will operate as a private company and serve as a genuine hub for Syria\u2019s economic development, with a strong focus on digital <\/em><\/p>\n

Dr. Barniyeh also outlined the government\u2019s economic vision, stating, \u201c<\/em>Our approach is centered on fairness, equity, private sector leadership, and investment attraction. We will facilitate business operations and open doors to promising investment opportunities<\/span>.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Dr. Basel Asaad, Executive Director of the Damascus Securities Exchange, described the reopening as a historically significant milestone for Syria. He affirmed the exchange\u2019s readiness to resume operations and strengthen its role, anticipating broader and more substantial investments in Syria\u2019s evolving economy.<\/p>\n

Despite limited resources, Dr. Asaad highlighted the exchange\u2019s success in carrying out its responsibilities with transparency and ensuring investor ownership protection. He expressed confidence in its ability to keep pace with future developments.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Dr. Abdul Razzak Kasem, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Syrian Securities and Financial Markets Authority, stated that resuming trading marks a new chapter in the history of Syria\u2019s financial markets sector.<\/p>\n
