Latakia, SANSA-Syrian Civil Defense confirmed that firefighting teams along with additional support teams arriving Friday are making significant efforts to put out several forest fires that have broken out in the forests of in Latakia\u2019s mountains since yesterday evening.<\/p>\n

Director of Civil Defense in the Syrian coast, Abdul Kafi Kayyal, told SANA that firefighting teams are facing significant difficulties in controlling and extinguishing these fires, due to the rugged terrain of the area, lack of roads in the forests, lack of water sources, as well as war remnants and mines in the Attira area, high temperatures, and high wind speeds that help the fires spread quickly.<\/p>\n

The Civil Defense put out more than 13 fires in various areas of Latakia countryside last Wednesday.<\/p>\n
