New York, SANA- US Special Envoy for Syria Thomas Barrack affirmed that the lifting of US sanctions on Syria marked a strategic \u201cfresh start\u201d for the country, stressing that his country is not pursuing nation-building or federalism in the region.<\/div>\n
\nIn statements to \u201cArab News\u201d, Barak described the Middle East as a \u201cdifficult zip code at an amazingly historic time,\u201d and said the Trump administration\u2019s removal of sanctions on May 13 was aimed at offering the Syrian people \u201ca new slice of hope\u201d following over a decade of war.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident (Trump)\u2019s message is peace and prosperity,\u201d Barrack said, adding that the policy shift is intended to give the new Syrian administration a chance to rebuild.<\/p>\n
