\u00a0Damascus, SANA- Chairman of the Higher Committee for People’s Assembly Elections, Mohammed Taha al-Ahmad said that during the meeting with President Ahmad al-Sharaa Saturday, he was briefed on the most important amendments of the interim electoral system for the People’s Assembly, following committee’s tours and meetings with various segments and figures of Syrian society.<\/p>\n

⚡️Al-Ahmad: The President stressed the necessity of proceeding with the electoral process in all Syrian governorates and rejected the division that all Syrians reject.<\/p>\n
⚡️Al-Ahmad: The President stressed the necessity of excluding all those who stood with and supported the criminals, in addition to those who call for division, sectarianism.<\/p>\n
⚡️Al-Ahmad: The number of seats in the People’s Assembly will be increased from 150 to 210 seats, thus increasing the governorates’ share according to the 2011 population census, and the President will appoint 70 of them.<\/p>\n
⚡️Al-Ahmad to SANA: The election of members of the People’s Assembly is expected to take place between 15 \u2013 20 September, with women’s participation in the electoral body reaching at least 20 percent.<\/p>\n
⚡️Al-Ahmad: Monitoring of the election process by the international community and organizations will be permitted, under the supervision and coordination of the Higher Elections Committee.<\/p>\n
