{"id":366569,"date":"2025-07-30T10:12:48","date_gmt":"2025-07-30T07:12:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sana.sy\/en\/?p=366569"},"modified":"2025-07-30T10:12:48","modified_gmt":"2025-07-30T07:12:48","slug":"magnitude-8-7-earthquake-strikes-off-kamchatka-in-russias-far-east","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/en\/?p=366569","title":{"rendered":"Magnitude 8.7 earthquake strikes off Kamchatka in Russia&#8217;s Far East"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Moscow, SANA- A powerful 8.7-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula in far eastern Russia that caused four tsunami waves and the extension of the water flow to a distance of up to 800 meters inland.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Russian media quoted the Ministry of Emergency Situations as saying: \u201cthe epicenter of the earthquake was located 161 kilometers from the coast of Kamchatka, at a depth of 32 kilometers, while Tsunami waves flood parts of the city of Severo-Kurilsk ,in addition to parts of the &#8220;Allied&#8221; fishing enterprise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The earthquake was preceded by smaller aftershocks and followed by eight aftershocks measuring greater than 5 degrees within just one hour. Aftershocks are continuing.
