Damascus, SANA- Interior Ministry stressed that rebel gangs in Sweida violated ceasefire agreement on Sunday, despite Syrian state efforts to maintain the calm and ensure the restoration of Stablity throughout the governorate.<\/p>\n
The ministry said in a statement \u201cSince the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Sweida, the Syrian state, with its military, security, civil, and service agencies, has been striving to uphold this agreement, aiming at restoring stability throughout the governorate\u201d.<\/p>\n
As part of this effort, \u201cthe government has worked to secure the lives of civilians and pave the way for the gradual return of services and the restoration of normalcy to the governorate\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n
The ministry pointed out that \u201cIn contrast to the government\u2019s keen efforts to ensure the security and stability of Sweida, media and sectarian mobilization campaigns led by rebel gangs in the city did not stop over the past period\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs these gangs failed to thwart the Syrian State’s efforts and its responsibilities towards our people in Sweida, they resorted to violating the ceasefire agreement by launching treacherous attacks against Internal Security Forces on several fronts and shelling some villages with rockets and mortar shells, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of a number of security personnel\u201d the ministry said.<\/p>\n
The Ministry affirmed its \u201ccontinued fulfillment of its national and humanitarian duty in Sweida since the beginning of the crisis, placing the security and stability of citizens at the forefront of its priorities\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cMeanwhile, rebel gangs continue their attempts to drag the governorate into tension and chaos, driven by personal motives of their leaders, through the theft of relief aid and internal fighting\u201d the statement said adding that \u201cThese groups also use violations of truce agreements to cover up their arbitrary practices, including unlawful arrests within the city\u201d.<\/p>\n
The Ministry concluded that it \u201cwill continue its efforts and duties in Sweida, as dictated by national duty to protect the population and secure relief and aid convoys for them\u201d.<\/p>\n
