Tartus, SANA- Internal security forces in Tartous Governorate have foiled a plot to bomb a church in the village of Al-Kharibat in Safita district after arresting two individuals as they were trying to carry out the terrorist attack.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe received accurate intelligence information indicating that an outlaw group linked to remnants of the former regime has been monitoring the Maronite Church of St. Elias in the village of Al-Kharibat, in preparation for a terrorist act involving detonating explosive devices inside the church\u201d, commander of the Internal Security Forces in Tartus, Colonel Abdel Aal Mohammed Abdel Aal said on Interior Ministry\u2019s Telegram channel.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cWe carried out a security operation, which came after a precise and intensive monitoring and follow-up operation, which led to the arrest of two members of the cell.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the operation, an explosive device was seized along with papers with threatening phrases and warnings to the residents of the area,\u201d the officer said.<\/p>\n
