Cairo, SANA \u2013 The Arab League\u00a0 strongly condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu\u2019s recent remarks about annexing parts of sovereign Arab states as part of what he called the \u201cGreater Israel Vision,\u201d warning they pose a serious threat to Arab national security and defy international law and legitimacy.<\/p>\n
In a statement, the League\u2019s General Secretariat said Netanyahu\u2019s comments reflect \u201cexpansionist and aggressive intentions that cannot be accepted or tolerated\u201d and reveal \u201can extremist mentality steeped in colonial delusions.\u201d The statement said such rhetoric constitutes a violation of the sovereignty of Arab states and an attempt to undermine security and stability in the region.<\/p>\n
The League called on the United Nations Security Council to \u201cassume its responsibilities\u201d and confront what it described as extremist positions that fuel instability, heighten tensions, and deepen regional hostility toward the occupying state.<\/p>\n
Netanyahu, in a televised interview, linked himself to the so-called \u201cGreater Israel Vision,\u201d claiming it encompasses the occupied Palestinian territories as well as parts of Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Egypt \u2014 remarks that have drawn sharp criticism from across the Arab world and beyond.<\/p>\n
