Geneva, SANA- Russia\u00a0is ready to continue the\u00a0inter-Syrian consultations in Moscow if necessary along with the UN procedures in Geneva\u00a0to find out a solution to the crisis in Syria, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the\u00a0United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva Alexey\u00a0Borodavkin said Monday.<\/p>\n
“If it is necessary, Russia is ready to continue\u00a0the Moscow consultation process between representatives of the Syrian Government and\u00a0opposition simultaneously with what is happening in the United Nations,These two\u00a0processes will complete each other,” Alexey Borodavkin told RIA Novosti.<\/p>\n
Moscow hosted two rounds of inter-Syrian talks in\u00a0January and April 2015, with the two sides-the government delegation and opposition\u00a0figures- approving Moscow Principles guidelines in the first, and a unified paper\u00a0assessing the status quo in Syria item of a Russian-proposed schedule in the second.<\/p>\n
We hope that the two rounds of Moscow\u00a0consultations between representatives of the\u00a0Syrian Government and opposition has contributed to\u00a0finally launching the train of the political settlement of the crisis in Syria, Borodavkin\u00a0said, asserting that the start of consultations on a settlement in Geneva indicates\u00a0that the train is running fast and we hope they would lead to Geneva 3.<\/p>\n
Geneva hosted two rounds of talks on the crisis in\u00a0Syria, the first was held without the participation of the Syrian sides and came out\u00a0with Geneva Communiqu\u00e9 of June 30, 2012, while the second round, however, was turned into a\u00a0kind of a media show by the Western countries, who practiced a guardianship role on\u00a0the delegation of the opposition then, which led to the talks ending with no results.<\/p>\n
He pointed out that Russia intends to hold\u00a0consultations with the UN Special Envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura on May 14 on the\u00a0implementation of Geneva 1 Communique.<\/p>\n
Moscow’s stance towards the upcoming\u00a0consultations will be based on what has been\u00a0reached during the two inter-Syrian meetings held in\u00a0Moscow and of course on Geneva Communique of June 30 2012, and the UN Security Council’s\u00a0relevant resolutions, the Russian Ambassador explained.<\/p>\n
Earlier Monday, UN Spokesperson Ahmad Fawzi said\u00a0that de Mistura will hold on Tuesday in Geneva closed-door, separate in-depth\u00a0consultations with each of the parties on the\u00a0crisis in Syria.<\/p>\n
