{"id":44184,"date":"2015-06-08T11:51:35","date_gmt":"2015-06-08T08:51:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sana.sy\/en\/?p=44184"},"modified":"2015-06-08T11:54:02","modified_gmt":"2015-06-08T08:54:02","slug":"turkish-people-thwart-erdogans-dreams-of-changing-constitution-and-establish-himself-as-an-all-powerful-executive-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/en\/?p=44184","title":{"rendered":"Turkish people thwart Erdogan&#8217;s dreams of changing\u00a0Constitution and establish himself as an all-powerful executive president"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ankara, SANA Turkish people thwarted Recep Tayyip\u00a0Erdogan&#8217;s ambition of changing the constitution and to further bolster his clout, as\u00a0voters denied his ruling party a parliamentary majority for the first time since\u00a02002 in the elections held in the country on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>With 99 percent of the votes counted, Erdogan&#8217;s\u00a0governing Justice and Development Party (AKP) won the election for the fourth time in a row,\u00a0with around 40,79 % of the votes, but that represented a steep fall in support from more than\u00a049% in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Erdogan decline in popularity and the increase\u00a0resentment of the Turkish people against him and his party&#8217;s policies were attributed to the\u00a0scandals of corruption which were unveiled in 2013 as well as his unlimited support to terrorism<br \/>\nin Syria through turning Turkey to crossings and headquarters for Takfiri terrorists,<br \/>\nin addition to creating crises with the neighboring countries.<\/p>\n<p>The percentage gave the AKP an estimated 258 seats\u00a0in Turkish Parliament, compared with the 327 seats it has now with a decrease of 69 seats.<\/p>\n<p>The Turkish Republican People&#8217;s Party (CHP) led by\u00a0Kamal Klijdar Ihsanoglu ranked second with 25,1% of the votes and took 132 seats, while the\u00a0Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) led by Devlet Bahceli won the third position with 16,4 %\u00a0and took 81 seats.<\/p>\n<p>The Peoples&#8217; Democratic Party (HDP) led by\u00a0Selahattin Demirtas succeeded for the first time to enter the parliament as it managed to surpass\u00a0the steep of 10% percent of the votes by taking 12,6 % and around 79 seats of the 550\u00a0parliamentary seats.<\/p>\n<p>According to the outcome of the elections the AKP,\u00a0which has governed Turkey since 2002, will not be able to form a government alone, with 258\u00a0seats, as it was forced to negotiate a coalition with other parties or to call a fresh\u00a0election if no parliamentary majority can be secured within six weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The political circles expect that Erdogan will\u00a0adopt all possible measures to cope with all the possibilities, mainly to entrust Prime\u00a0Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to form the government and order it to stay in power even if the\u00a0parliament voted no confidence as the President\u00a0has the right to assign the government to stay in\u00a0power until early elections within 90 days.<\/p>\n<p>H.
