Damascus, SANA- The body of late Retired Maj. Gen, Assistant vice president, Mohammad Nasif Khair Bek was escorted to his final resting place on Monday morning from the al-Shami hospital in Damascus to Mesyaf area in Hama province to be buried in the family’s cemetry.<\/p>\n

President Bashar al-Assad was represented at the funeral ceremony by Minister of Presidential Affairs Mansour Azzam.<\/p>\n

The cermony was also attended by representatives of the National Leadership of Baath Arab Socialist Party, Speaker of people’s assembly, Prime minister, a number of army officers in addition to representative of political parties.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, the Syrian presidency mourned the late General Khair bek who died on Sunday June 28th 2015 after suffering from an incurable disease.<\/p>\n

Khair Bek was born on April 10th 1937.<\/p>\n

He joined the Syrian Arab Army in 1961 and had served several security positions since March 8 1963, the last of which was the first assistant to the director of the General Intelligence Department from 1999 to 2005.<\/p>\n

In 2005, a decree was issued wherewith he was appointed an Assistant Vice President and remained in this position until he passed away.<\/p>\n
