NEW York, SANA The United Nations Economic and\u00a0Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) adopted\u00a0by a recorded vote of 42 in favour to 2 against\u00a0(United States, Australia) a resolution rejecting\u00a0Israeli occupation measures in the occupied Syrian
\nGolan and the Palestinian territories, including\u00a0Eastern Jerusalem.
\nSyria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Bashar\u00a0al-Jaafari hailed, in a speech at the session,\u00a0ESCWA report on the economic and social\u00a0repercussions, of the continuation of Israeli\u00a0occupation and Israeli authorities’ ignorance of\u00a0hundreds of UN resolutions, on the people of the\u00a0occupied Syrian Golan and Palestine calling for
\nstopping Israeli exploitation, squandering and\u00a0depletion of the natural resources in the occupied\u00a0Arab lands.
\nAl-Jaafari held the international community\u00a0responsible for the continuity of the suffering of\u00a0the Palestinians and Syrians under its occupation\u00a0as a result of not holding Israel accountable for\u00a0its crimes, racial practices and systematic\u00a0barbarism against the Palestinians and the Syrians\u00a0and forcing them to leave their lands.<\/p>\n
Syria’s Representative warned that the Israeli\u00a0clear support to armed terrorist groups in the\u00a0occupied Syrian Golan has increased the threat to\u00a0the Syrian citizens there to unprecedented levels\u00a0since the start of the Israeli occupation of the\u00a0Syrian lands, due to the Israeli use of terrorist\u00a0organizations, spreading at the disengagement\u00a0area, as a tool to blackmail Syrians in Golan and\u00a0put pressure on them to ally with the terrorists
\nagainst their homeland.<\/p>\n
Al-Jaafari called on the ESCWA Commission to\u00a0include its upcoming reports the fact of the\u00a0Israeli frank support to the terrorists in\u00a0occupied Syrian Golan.<\/p>\n
He pointed to the Israeli continued arrest\u00a0campaigns against the Syrians in occupied Syrian\u00a0Golan, most recently the re-arrest of Syria’s\u00a0Mandela, prisoner Sedqi al-Maqt without legal and\u00a0ethical justifications after he was released in\u00a02012 following a 27 years of imprisonment at the\u00a0Israeli jails, which is the same detention period
\nthat Nelson Mandela spent in the apartheid prisons\u00a0in South Africa.<\/p>\n
What the Syrians, whether in the Occupied Golan or\u00a0in Syria, need now is ensuring an immediate\u00a0international support to confront and uproot\u00a0terrorism which target their lives, stability and\u00a0development either the terrorism of the Islamic\u00a0State in Iraq and Syria “ISIS”and Jabhat al-Nusra\u00a0or other terrorist organizations which adopt the
\nTakfiri ideology as well as confronting the state terrorism which Israel is practicing against the\u00a0Syrians in the occupied Golan, al-Jaafari went on\u00a0to say.<\/p>\n
He reiterated that supporting Palestinian people\u00a0and the Syrians in the occupied Syrian Golan\u00a0should be a top priority of the international\u00a0community in the upcoming stage.<\/p>\n
