Damascus, SANA \u2013 Water Resources Minister Kamal al-Sheikha asserted that the drinking water being supplied to Damascus city is clean, safe, and complies with health standards.<\/p>\n
In a statement to SANA, the Minister said that the central lab of the General Establishment for Drinking Water and Waste Disposal in Damascus analyzes drinking water on daily and hourly basis.<\/p>\n
He explained that due to a decrease in water supplies, the Establishment is pumping water directly from wells in al-Rabweh area to the network, and that the repeated power outages that cause emergency generator to kick in and operate pumps in a sudden manner have resulted in a degree of sediments appearing in water, particularly in al-Mazzeh area.<\/p>\n
Al-Sheikha affirmed that the water supplies in Damascus are good and water is being provided in adequate amounts, with Damascus receiving water for six hours per day.<\/p>\n
