{"id":49940,"date":"2015-07-31T14:59:58","date_gmt":"2015-07-31T11:59:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sana.sy\/en\/?p=49940"},"modified":"2015-08-01T11:37:33","modified_gmt":"2015-08-01T08:37:33","slug":"photo-exhibition-at-salamiyeh-archeological-bathhouse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/en\/?p=49940","title":{"rendered":"Photo exhibition at Salamiyeh archeological\u00a0Bathhouse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hama, SANA A Photo exhibition was held at\u00a0Salamiyeh archeological bathhouse encompassed photos of archeological sites, potteries and\u00a0tools, handmade sculptures and plastic art paintings, in addition to a number of children&#8217;s\u00a0drawings.<\/p>\n<p>Touring the exhibition, Hama Governor Ghassan\u00a0Khalaf told SANA that it sheds light on the most prominent archeological and heritage sites in\u00a0the province and the houseware and craft tools which were used in the past, and it reflects\u00a0the uniqueness of the Syrians&#8217; daily life throughout history.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sana.sy\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/salamiyeh.J1PG.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-49942 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sana.sy\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/salamiyeh.J1PG-300x160.jpg\" alt=\"salamiyeh.J1PG\" width=\"300\" height=\"160\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/salamiyeh.J1PG-300x160.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/salamiyeh.J1PG.jpg 620w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Salamiyeh has enjoys a significant position on the\u00a0archeological and historical map of Syria as it contains a rich and varied cultural\u00a0reservoir, Khalaf said.<\/p>\n<p>Salamiyeh, located 33 km to the southeast of the\u00a0central Hama province, 45 km northeast of Homs province, is a cultural hub as it is\u00a0nicknamed the &#8220;Mother of Cairo&#8221; and it is the birthplace of the elite Syrian poet Mohammad al-Maghut.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman of Hama Antiquities Department Abdel\u00a0Qader Farzat said the exhibition embraced scores of photos and pictures that embody the most\u00a0remarkable tourist, historical and folkloric destinations in Salamiyeh, in addition\u00a0to the traditional handicrafts which the city is famous for.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sana.sy\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/salamiyeh.2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-49943 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sana.sy\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/salamiyeh.2-300x160.jpg\" alt=\"salamiyeh.2\" width=\"300\" height=\"160\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/salamiyeh.2-300x160.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/salamiyeh.2.jpg 620w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Farzat added that the exhibition also casts lights\u00a0on the old city of Salamiyeh with its archeological and heritage, milestones, some\u00a0ancient-use farming equipment, musical instruments and some folk industries in the city.<\/p>\n<p>Salamiyeh&#8217;s archeological bathhouse, famous for\u00a0its unique architectural style which dates back to the Roman era, is located at the city\u00a0center, near a large underground Byzantine cistern which is said to lead all the way to\u00a0Shmemis Castle.<\/p>\n<p>It was selected to host the exhibition due to its\u00a0cultural and historical value in the city as it is considered one of the most integrated\u00a0archeological bathhouses in the Levant as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>The bathhouse represents, with its archeological\u00a0relics, all the stages which Salamiyeh City witnessed throughout history. The importance of\u00a0the bathhouse increased during the Byzantine era as the city started to play a more important\u00a0religious role at that time and continued in the Islamic era.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The bathhouse consists of a rectangular area\u00a0estimated at about 448 square meters. It has four external facades; the most important of which\u00a0is the main eastern facade which includes the main door of the bathhouse.<\/p>\n<p>The photo exhibition was organized by Hama\u00a0Antiquities Department in cooperation with Antiquities Association in Salamiyeh City.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-49940 gallery-columns-4 gallery-size-medium'><figure
