Damascus, SANA- Minister of Higher Education Dr.\u00a0Mohammed Amer al-Mardini discussed with Elbros\u00a0Kotrashev, the delegate minister at the Russian\u00a0embassy in Damascus means to promote cooperation\u00a0in the cultural and scientific fields between the\u00a0Syria and Russia.<\/p>\n
Minister al-Mardini pointed out the need to\u00a0activate cooperation by increasing the number of\u00a0the Russian master and doctorate scholarships for\u00a0Syrian students and establishing branches of\u00a0Russian universities and schools in Syria to\u00a0strengthen the cultural relations between the two\u00a0countries.<\/p>\n
He noted that an agreement has been signed\u00a0recently to logistically support the Russian\u00a0Language and Literature Department at Damascus\u00a0University with the teaching staff and educational\u00a0requirements.<\/p>\n
Dr. Mardini called on rectors of a number major\u00a0universities in Russia to visit Damascus\u00a0University and to reactivate mutual agreements.<\/p>\n
In turn, Kotrashiv expressed readiness of the\u00a0Russian Embassy to follow up all the topics\u00a0discussed by the Syrian delegation who visited\u00a0Moscow recently, expressing appreciation for\u00a0Syria’s interest in the Russian language.<\/p>\n
A delegation from the\u00a0Ministry of Higher Education\u00a0held a series of meetings in Moscow in mid-July\u00a0with the International Cooperation Agency at the\u00a0Russian Ministry of Education and Science and the\u00a0Russian deputy Minister of Education, as well as\u00a0meetings that led to important agreements with the\u00a0administration of the Russian World Fund to\u00a0establish an office in Syria in charge of teaching\u00a0the Russian language.<\/p>\n
