New York, SANA – The 4th World Conference of\u00a0Speakers of Parliament condemned in its final statement all forms of terrorism.<\/p>\n

Wrapping up its activities Wednesday at the UN\u00a0headquarters in New York with participation of Syrian People’s Assembly delegation headed by its\u00a0Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham, the Conference stressed the parliaments’ important\u00a0role in confronting the challenges facing the countries of the world and their peoples, and the\u00a0need for building a world safe of war, conflict and free from poverty and hunger.<\/p>\n

In conference’s final statement, the participants\u00a0said.. “In spite of progress in the areas of democracy, peace and development, we continue to\u00a0live in an unstable world. War and conflict, often characterized by extreme brutality, are a\u00a0daily reality in many places. Millions of people, primarily women and children die, are\u00a0injured and displaced or forced to flee in dramatic conditions”, calling for ..”much greater\u00a0efforts to be deployed in solving conflicts through political dialogue and negotiations, with\u00a0full respect for international law.<\/p>\n

The Speakers expressed readiness to offer ” place\u00a0more emphasis on parliamentary diplomacy, which has demonstrated its ability to provide\u00a0impetus to efforts aimed at resolving differences and conflicts.<\/p>\n

“We witness horrendous terrorist acts in every\u00a0part of the globe. New terrorist groups are emerging with substantial resources at their\u00a0disposal” the statement said, condemning “all\u00a0forms and manifestations of terrorism, irrespective of\u00a0their perpetrators and motives”.<\/p>\n

The Speakers affirmed in the statement that their\u00a0parliaments “will do (their) utmost to enhance cooperation and support implementation of all\u00a0relevant UN resolutions and international conventions and agreements to combat terrorism”.<\/p>\n

The statement added ..” Much more needs to be and\u00a0can be done to prevent and reduce the risk of violence, We call for greater efforts to achieve a\u00a0nuclear weapons free world”, expressing participants’ desire to “see a real reduction in\u00a0the proliferation of all weapons”, Calling for urgent action to be taken including “robust\u00a0legislation, to combat organized crime involved in\u00a0human trafficking, drugs and illegal arms trade,
\nkidnappings and extortion, and associated money laundering”.<\/p>\n

\"laham-Indian\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In a relevant context, al-Laham discussed with\u00a0Speaker of Indian Parliament
\nSumitra Mahajan means of activating bilateral\u00a0cooperation, particularly in light of the spreading of extremism and terrorism in the world.<\/p>\n

Mahajan stressed that India stands against\u00a0terrorism, asserting that it will join any effort\u00a0to fight it.<\/p>\n

The Indian Speaker said that her country knows\u00a0that the mass media falsify the facts towards what is going on in Syria.<\/p>\n

For his part, al-Laham stressed the necessity of\u00a0exchanging visits between the Syrian and Indian parliaments to illustrate what is going on in\u00a0Syrian on the ground, the truth of terrorism hatched against the region and the countries\u00a0supporting them under false pretexts.<\/p>\n

\"Laham-Mauritanian\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In another meeting, al-Laham discussed with\u00a0Speaker of Mauritanian National Assembly Mohamed Ould Boilil\u00a0discussed fraternal relations between
\nthe Syrian and Mauritanian peoples and means of expanding fields of cooperation on various levels.
\nAl-Laham elaborated the terrorist war waged\u00a0against Syria, reiterating the necessity of
\nfighting the cross-border terrorism and the regional and\u00a0international cooperation in this regard.<\/p>\n

For his part, Ould Boilil\u00a0 expressed his people’s\u00a0solidarity with the Syrian people, pointing out that the conspiracy against the Syrian people\u00a0targets all Arab peoples.<\/p>\n

\"laham-Veitnami\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, al-Laham reviewed with Chairman of the\u00a0National Assembly in Vietnam Nguyen Sinh Hung the friendly relations between the two peoples and\u00a0the latest developments on the international arena, particularly the phenomenon of terrorism.<\/p>\n

Hung said Syria and Vietnam are tied with good\u00a0relations.<\/p>\n
