Damascus, SANA- The Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC) awarded its prize to Syria\u2019s grand Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Badr-Eddin Hassoun.<\/p>\n

Hassoun affirmed in a statement to reporters that Islam is a religion of love and mercy and the prize rams home a strong message for those who wear the mantle of Islam and call for killing and destruction.<\/p>\n

The Mufti considered awarding the prize to Syria as a proof of the failure of those who have been trying to blacken the image of the Syrian people, government and leadership.<\/p>\n

He added that the prize is “a message for the international community that Syria knows the meaning of human rights unlike the organizations which are based in Geneva watching thousands of children, women and men drown without lifting a finger.”<\/p>\n

Iranian Ambassador in Damascus Mohammad Reza Shaibani, who handed the prize over to the Mufti, said that the prize was awarded to him for his role in closing the Islamic ranks to confront extremism and Takfiri trends.<\/p>\n
