New York, SANA- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani\u00a0said all countries of the world should give priority to fighting terrorism in Syria to prevent\u00a0terrorist organizations turning into “terrorist governments.”<\/p>\n

“Syria is involved in a big war with terrorists\u00a0and the country’s people are facing severe difficulties, including displacement,” Rouhani was\u00a0quoted as saying in a Friday meeting with his Brazilian counterpart Dilma Rousseff in New York\u00a0on the sidelines of the annual session of the UN General Assembly.<\/p>\n

He warned against weakening the central government\u00a0in Syria because “toppling” the government would only give more opportunities to terrorists\u00a0to kill civilians.<\/p>\n

“If all the world’s countries prioritize the fight\u00a0against terrorism in Syria, it would be an appropriate way to solve problems and work toward\u00a0political reforms in this country,” added Rouhani.<\/p>\n

The Brazilian President, in turn, echoed Rouhani’s\u00a0remarks, warning that weakening the Syrian government would spread terrorism.<\/p>\n

Rousseff said the world has realized that\u00a0prolonging the war in Syria would strengthen the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).<\/p>\n

He added that there is no doubt that Syria needs\u00a0some political reforms, but the priority now in this country should be given to saving the people\u00a0and solving the issues of refugees and displaced people.<\/p>\n

In a relevant context, \u00a0Iranian President \u00a0said Iran’s relations with Syria will continue, stressing that fighting terrorism should\u00a0be the priority in the efforts for solving the crisis in Syria.<\/p>\n

“Today, the main sources of concern are\u00a0homelessness of the Syrian people, destruction of\u00a0the country by terrorist groups and killing of the\u00a0innocent Syrian people by terrorists,” Rouhani said in statements to editors and chief anchors of
\nthe US and international media in New York on Friday on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly\u00a0meetings.<\/p>\n

“Campaign against terrorism is undoubtedly the\u00a0first priority of Syria. Stability without democracy will not be possible. On the other hand,\u00a0one cannot speak of democracy and set up a ballot box in the midst of terrorism and war,” he\u00a0added.<\/p>\n

He expressed hope that “a collective solution for\u00a0Syria will be found out whose result will be an end to terrorism, return of refugees to their\u00a0country and the process of dialogue among Syrian groups for the future. And we are busy in\u00a0talks with different countries on the issue.”<\/p>\n

The Iranian President said that all countries that\u00a0can play a positive role in finding a solution to the crisis in Syria should get on\u00a0board.<\/p>\n
