Moscow, SANA – Russia’s Defense Ministry announced\u00a0Wednesday that it could accept the U.S. Pentagon’s proposal on coordination of military\u00a0flights against the Islamic State in Iraq and\u00a0Syria (ISIS) in Syria.<\/p>\n
“The Russian Defense Ministry has responded to the\u00a0Pentagon’s request and promptly considered the American proposal on coordination of actions in\u00a0the framework of the fight against the terror\u00a0group ISIS,” said the Ministry’s spokesman Igor\u00a0Konashenkov.<\/p>\n
“In general, these proposals could be accepted for\u00a0implementation,” he added.<\/p>\n
There are only some technical details to be\u00a0clarified in a meeting later today by
\nrepresentatives of the Russian Defense Ministry and the Pentagon\u00a0on the level of experts, said Konashenkov.<\/p>\n
U.S. Secretary of Defense Ash Carter called on\u00a0Tuesday for holding a second session of Russian-US\u00a0military talks over Syria as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
A Russian defense official said the talks should\u00a0be much broader than what the Pentagon is seeking.<\/p>\n
Both sides met once by video conference late last\u00a0week, a day after the Russian airstrikes began in Syria.<\/p>\n
