For his part, Syria’s Grand Mufti Ahmad Badr-Eddin\u00a0Hassoun said “this day is a day of victory in which Late President Hafez al-Assad shone.”<\/p>\n
October War refers to the Arab Israeli War that\u00a0was fought by the coalition of Arab states led by Egypt and Syria against the Isreali occupation\u00a0enemy from October 6 to 25, 1973. Back then, the Syrian armed forces managed to take an area back\u00a0from the Israeli forces that had advanced on the Golan.<\/p>\n
“We are seekers of peace and not seekers of war,”\u00a0said Hassoun, pointing out that Syria will defeat all its enemies through its unity.<\/p>\n Bishop Luqa al-Khoury, in turn, said the Syrian\u00a0people believe in God and in their belonging to\u00a0the homeland, Syria, and they stand united in the same\u00a0trench to defend it.<\/p>\n The event saw the honoring of 2000 families of\u00a0martyrs. A short film titled “Word of Honor” was screened, telling the story of a young Syrian\u00a0officer who leads a military operation with a\u00a0number of soldiers to release a group of innocent\u00a0civilians held by an armed terrorist group inside\u00a0an abandoned school.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Tammuz Association was established in 2012. It\u00a0aims at offering all possible support to the families of the martyrs and it seeks to activate\u00a0the civil society’s participation in supporting those families.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>
