{"id":58539,"date":"2015-10-20T15:00:31","date_gmt":"2015-10-20T12:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sana.sy\/en\/?p=58539"},"modified":"2015-10-20T19:11:14","modified_gmt":"2015-10-20T16:11:14","slug":"speaker-al-laham-european-countries-should-be-more-reasonable-and-stop-supporting-terrorists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/en\/?p=58539","title":{"rendered":"Speaker al-Laham: European countries should be more reasonable and stop supporting terrorists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Geneva, SANA \u2013 Speaker of the People&#8217;s Assembly, Mohammad Jihad al-Laham, called for a more reasonable and objective European attitude in dealing with the facts in Syria.<\/p>\n<p>During a meeting with the Serbian Parliament&#8217;s Speaker Maja Gojkovic on the sidelines of the meeting of the Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva, al-Laham also stressed that the European countries should stop providing support to the terrorist organizations that is being given under &#8220;false pretexts and names.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He warned that the European countries would be the most affected by the spread of terrorism given the number of European nationals who have joined ISIS.<\/p>\n<p>Gojkovic, for her part, said her country is aware of the falsification of facts practiced by some media about Syria, viewing the meeting with al-Laham as a &#8220;great opportunity&#8221; to get acquainted with what is going on in Syria away from the disinformation.<\/p>\n<p>Al-Laham also met with head of the Brazilian parliamentary delegation to the IPU Assembly and discussed with him the Syrian-Brazilian parliamentary relations and the importance of enhancing communication and coordination in the field of fighting terrorism.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sana.sy\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Mohammad-Jihad-al-Laham-IPU-Assembly-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-58540\" src=\"http:\/\/sana.sy\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Mohammad-Jihad-al-Laham-IPU-Assembly-2-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"Mohammad Jihad al-Laham-IPU Assembly 2\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Mohammad-Jihad-al-Laham-IPU-Assembly-2-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Mohammad-Jihad-al-Laham-IPU-Assembly-2.jpg 660w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Brazilian official stressed that his country will do its best to support the political solution in Syria.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Another meeting also brought together the People&#8217;s Assembly&#8217;s Speaker with Chairman of the Italian Senate&#8217;s Foreign Affairs Committee Pier Ferdinando Cassini, to whom al-Laham presented a review of the terrorism inflicted in Syria at the hands of the regionally and internationally-backed terrorist organizations.<\/p>\n<p>H.
