{"id":59721,"date":"2015-11-01T08:08:06","date_gmt":"2015-11-01T05:08:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sana.sy\/en\/?p=59721"},"modified":"2015-11-01T13:14:15","modified_gmt":"2015-11-01T10:14:15","slug":"turks-cast-ballots-in-parliamentary-elections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/en\/?p=59721","title":{"rendered":"Turks cast ballots in early Parliamentary elections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ankara, SANA &#8211; Turkish voters headed to the polls\u00a0in parliamentary elections on Sunday after the Justice and Development party (AKP)\u00a0negotiations to form a coalition government with the opposition following an\u00a0inconclusive vote in June fell apart.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The elections come after the AKP failed to retain\u00a0the overwhelming majority in parliamentary polls in June 2015.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In June&#8217;s election, AKP was unsuccessful in its\u00a0bid to turn Turkey into a presidential republic, which would have necessitated a two-thirds majority vote, as the People&#8217;s Democratic Party (HDP) managed to cross the 10-percent threshold and for the first time secure representation in Turkey&#8217;s parliament.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The elections come amid criticism against Turkish\u00a0Regime Erdogan&#8217;s policies of authoritarianism, repression of his opponents and\u00a0suppression of press freedom.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Few days before the elections, Erdogan&#8217;s\u00a0gendarmerie closed oppositions&#8217; TV stations, which moved Turkey researcher at the Human Rights\u00a0Watch Organization Emma Sinclair-Webb to say Not since the days of the 1980 military\u00a0coup have there been such dramatic moves to close down and prevent scrutiny of\u00a0power.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Erdogans&#8217; government attempted to suppress the\u00a0popular protests against his government&#8217;s plans for the reconstruction of Taksim&#8217;s Gezi Park\u00a0area where Scores of Turkish citizens were killed and injured during the protests, while\u00a0the two terrorist explosions of Suruc and Ankara, more than 128 people died, left a wide<br \/>\ncondemnation and holding Erdogan&#8217;s government the responsibility of the two<br \/>\nexplosions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Erdogan&#8217;s reckless policies towards the issues of\u00a0the region and his support to the terrorists, especially in Syria, influenced the\u00a0popularity of his Party and received popular condemnation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Erdogan&#8217;s corruption policies were also\u00a0highlighted and condemned by his critics.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, Republican People&#8217;s Party (CHP) MPs\u00a0directly accused the Turkish intelligence system of having close ties with the terrorists of\u00a0the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), asserting that Erdogan was informed with\u00a0all details of the activities of the ISIS members in Turkey.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In June elections, the AKP gained 40.81% of the\u00a0votes , while the CHP gained 25.1% of the votes, the National Movement Party won 16.34%\u00a0and the Democratic People&#8217;s Party ranked fourth with 13.5%.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">H.
