Homs, SANA – Homs Governor Talal al-Barazi\u00a0discussed on Saturday with the UN Under-Secretary- General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency\u00a0Relief Stephen O’Brien the humanitarian mission in\u00a0Homs.<\/p>\n

Before the meeting, O’Brien and the UN delegation\u00a0had visited al-Waer neighborhood in Homs, where a settlement agreement reached early this month is\u00a0being implemented to clear the neighborhood of weapons and gunmen.<\/p>\n

The government, in cooperation with the UN\u00a0organizations, will continue work to accomplish\u00a0the humanitarian and relief mission in al-Waer, al-Barazi stressed in a statement to the reporters.<\/p>\n

He noted that the UN delegation has been\u00a0acquainted with the atmosphere of the
\nreconciliation being achieved in the neighborhood where a ceasefire has\u00a0been established and dialogue has been launched.<\/p>\n

The governor said he called for a UN condemnation\u00a0of the terrorist attacks targeting safe neighborhoods in Homs city, particularly the\u00a0bombing that hit al-Zahraa area yesterday and\u00a0claimed the lives of many civilians and injured others.<\/p>\n

UN and international patronage and condemnations\u00a0of terrorist attacks are necessary to encourage reconciliations and create the favorable\u00a0conditions to make them work, added al-Barazi,\u00a0cautioning that reconciliations cannot properly succeed at\u00a0the time when “the Turkish and Saudi regimes continue supporting and financing terrorism in
\nSyria.”<\/p>\n

Humanitarian aid convoys have already entered al-Waer neighborhood according to schedule, Homs governor confirmed, adding that fuel supplies will\u00a0make their way into the neighborhood within 15 days and that a committee has been formed to
\ntackle the abductees file.<\/p>\n

For his part, O’Brien said supporting al-Waer\u00a0agreement is “a very good step,” highlighting the importance of partnership between the UN\u00a0organizations and the local authorities in\u00a0delivering aid to people in need in the neighborhood.<\/p>\n

The UN official offered condolences to the\u00a0families of the victims of al-Zahraa terrorist\u00a0bombing, pointing out that the political solution is the\u00a0only way out of the crisis in Syria.<\/p>\n
