Daraa, SANA – A local initiative for national\u00a0reconciliation in Daraa was launched on Sunday by a thousand of locals and senior figures from\u00a0the southern province.<\/p>\n

The initiative calls upon people who have taken up\u00a0arms against the state to lay down their weapons so that they can have their legal status\u00a0settled and get back to normal life, according to a statement issued on the occasion.<\/p>\n

The initiative includes forming a working group of\u00a0members of the People’s Assembly, municipal councils and popular figures from Daraa\u00a0province to work with the government parties concerned to achieve reconciliations in\u00a0the areas where the people are willing.<\/p>\n

Local committees also will be formed to\u00a0communicate with the senior figures in every town and village where gunmen are active in order to\u00a0work on making arrangements to restore security and safety to the areas in question.<\/p>\n
