Tehran, SANA-Russian President’s Special Representative for the Middle East and African Countries, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov discussed with Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian enhancing bilateral coordination between Iran and Russia in issues related to the crisis in Syria and the joint efforts to confront ISIS and other terrorist organizations.<\/p>\n
Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday that the consultations witnessed a frank exchange of views on the package of pressing issues on the Middle Eastern agenda, noting that the parties paid special attention to the tasks of ensuring the cessation of hostilities in Syria.<\/p>\n
The ministry added that the consultations also discussed the joint efforts to confront ISIS and other terrorist organizations in implantation of the UNSC resolution no.2268 and resolving the crisis in Syria through political means as soon as possible through a comprehensive negotiating process carried out under UN auspices according to UNSC resolution 2254.<\/p>\n
Both sides stressed the importance of continuing effective coordination between Moscow and Tehran, including their joint efforts in the framework of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG).<\/p>\n
