Tehran, SANA \u2013 Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Fayssal Mikdad and the Senior Advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Akbar Velayati affirmed that the Syrian, Iranian relations are firm, strong and strategic.<\/p>\n
During a meeting in Tehran on Tuesday, Mikdad and Velayati were satisfied with the continued consultation and coordination between Iran and Syria against terrorism.<\/p>\n
Mikdad pointed out to the Syrian government’s commitment to making the Syrian-Syrian dialogue a success, achieving more local reconciliations and sending the humanitarian aid to all areas in need.<\/p>\n
“Syria believes that relations with Iran are not only economic, political, social and cultural ones, rather they are deep-rooted relations,” Mikdad said.<\/p>\n
For his part, Velayati reiterated Iran’s support to Syria in its war against terrorism, saying “Iran and Syria have been fighting in the same front line since the victory of Islamic Revolution of 1979, and the outcome of the cooperation was evident in the region.”<\/p>\n
At a press conference after the meeting, Mikdad denounced the recent action taken by Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) considering Lebanon’s Hezbollah as “a terrorist group”, saying “the GCC member states themselves are supporters of terrorism”.<\/p>\n
Mikdad stressed “Iran’s role is not restricted to solving regional problems but it plays a significant role to safeguard the international peace and security.” adding “Syria is happy with the success of Iran in settling one of its big problems on the international level which is the nuclear program”.<\/p>\n
For his part, Velayati said the decrease of the Russian forces in Syria will not affect the quartet cooperation among Iran, Russia, Syria and Hezbollah.<\/p>\n
