{"id":72719,"date":"2016-03-24T10:25:00","date_gmt":"2016-03-24T08:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sana.sy\/en\/?p=72719"},"modified":"2016-03-24T10:25:34","modified_gmt":"2016-03-24T08:25:34","slug":"tuberculosis-cases-decreased-in-syria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.sana.sy\/en\/?p=72719","title":{"rendered":"Tuberculosis cases decreased in Syria"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Damascus, SANA, The number of Tuberculosis cases\u00a0in Syria has decreased in 2015 as compared to\u00a02014, Health Minister Nizar Yazigi has said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Minister Yazigi told SANA, in a statement on the\u00a0World Tuberculosis (TB) Day, that the ministry has\u00a0achieved good results in facing TB adopting\u00a0procedures for taking care of the infected people\u00a0throughout its specialized centers in different<br \/>\nprovinces.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tuberculosis, or TB, is an infectious bacterial\u00a0disease, the symptoms of the active TB of the lung\u00a0are coughing, sometimes with sputum or blood,\u00a0chest pains, weakness, weight loss, fever and\u00a0night sweats. Tuberculosis is treatable with a six-\u00a0month course of antibiotics.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The cooperation with the partners contributed in\u00a0decreasing the number of TB cases from 3576 in\u00a02014 to 3134 in 2015, the minister said,\u00a0affirming that the ministry continues providing TB\u00a0treatment requirements and detecting the disease<br \/>\nfree of charge at all its medical centers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The World TB Day which is held each year on March\u00a024 is intended to promote awareness, knowledge and\u00a0motivation for action against tuberculosis\u00a0worldwide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">TB was identified 132 years ago, after the\u00a0discovery of the Koch&#8217;s bacillus. Even today TB\u00a0remains an epidemic in much of the world despite\u00a0the fact that effective cures have been made\u00a0available for decades. This greatest killer of\u00a0human beings in all history still at work despite\u00a0many scientific breakthroughs and innovations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">WHO has called on countries and partners to &#8220;Unite\u00a0to End Tuberculosis&#8221;. While there has been\u00a0significant progress in the fight against TB, with\u00a043 million lives saved since 2000, the battle is\u00a0only half-won: over 4 000 people lose their lives\u00a0each day to this leading infectious disease.
